The objective of the Ihu Special Economic Zone (ISEZ) is to act as an enabler for the Impact Resource Development Projects and other industries in the area. The ISEZ has been set up to encourage economic growth by providing accessibility to transportation, communications and utilities, including residential and public housing. The ISEZ has the advantage of proximity to the resource base and the inclusion of the Sea Port and Airport will enhance access to International Market.
The ISEZ will significantly increase trade volumes, revenue, jobs and enhance service delivery to Gulf Province and surrounding Provinces. The Ihu Special Economic Zone Master Site Development Plan captures the plans for the zone.
The ISEZ is approximately 600km West of Port Moresby, Papua New Guineas capital City.
The area lies strategically north of Australia/New Zealand and west of Malacca Strait, with direct sea route to Asia.
ISEZ is within 45 minutes’ fight radius of Port Moresby, Lae, Mt. Hagen, Wabag, Mendi, Tari and Daru.
